Background

Nigersouth Foundation is the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Nigersouth Limited, established to promote sustainable social impact and community development through purposeful intervention programmes. The Foundation reflects the Company’s commitment to operating in a socially responsible, economically sustainable, and environmentally conscious manner.

Driven by a vision of improving lives and strengthening communities, we focus on initiatives that support education, healthcare, infrastructure development, environmental sustainability, and community wellbeing. Through strategic interventions and collaborative partnerships, Nigersouth Foundation seeks to create lasting positive impact, particularly within underserved and vulnerable communities.

To provide impactful programmes and initiatives in education, empowerment, healthcare, and community development through strategic partnerships and sustainable interventions.

Chairman

Muhammad Nami (Mazhi Raban Nupe)

Muhammad Nami is a seasoned tax administrator and business professional with over three decades of experience in accounting, auditing, management, and tax advisory services. He served as the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) from 2019 to 2023, where he led transformative reforms that enhanced tax administration, improved compliance, and significantly increased revenue performance.

He has also held key leadership roles, including Chairman of the Joint Tax Board (JTB), Chairman of the African Tax Administrators Forum (ATAF) and President of the Commonwealth Association of Tax Administrators (CATA). He is a Fellow of CITN, ANAN and CMAN as well as an Associate member of NIM, CIS and ICAN, and has attended executive trainings at ASCON (Nigeria) and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, USA.

  • Hadiza M. Muhammad

    Trustee · Humanitarian interventions

    A university-trained culinary expert with over two decades of professional experience and a B.A. in English from the National Open University of Nigeria. An alumna of the Harvard Kennedy School, she completed executive programmes on Women and Power (2025), Leadership and Character in Uncertain Times (2025) and Leadership in Crises (2026), earning an Executive Certificate in Public Service. She oversees the humanitarian intervention functions of the Foundation.

  • El-Yasin M. Nami

    Trustee · Policy management

    Holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration from Shenyang Jianzhu University (2020) and has completed professional development courses in the United Kingdom and Croatia. He leads the policy management functions of the Foundation, providing strategic oversight and coordination.

  • Dr Idris M. Nami

    Trustee · Health and Disaster Management Director

    Obtained a Bachelor of Medicine from October 6 University, Egypt (2020) and a B.Sc. in Business Administration from ESTAM University, Ibadan campus. He oversees health-related initiatives, emergency response coordination and humanitarian intervention programmes.

  • Kabir Muhammad

    Trustee · Business Director

    Holds a B.Sc. in Accounting from Bayero University Kano (2019) and an M.Sc. in Accounting from Nile University of Nigeria. He provides strategic oversight for business operations, financial planning and organisational development.

Developmental plan

Education

  • Pay JAMB registration fees for 1,000 candidates every year for the next ten years across the eight local government areas of Niger South.
  • Sponsor the five best graduating pupils from each of the eight LGAs through Police Secondary School Nami, junior to senior secondary.
  • Pay all graduating pupils’ junior and senior WAEC exam fees.
  • Pay school fees for all primary pupils at Police Secondary School Nami, regardless of tribe, religion or state of origin.
  • Sponsor three students from each of the eight LGAs annually to study Accountancy, ICT & Computer Science or Medical Sciences at IBB University, Lapai.
  • Sponsor three students annually from Nupe-speaking communities in Lokoja and Kaduna at Kogi and Kaduna State universities, and three from the Lafiagi, Tsonga and Patigi emirates at Kwara State University.

Power

  • Complete ongoing electricity projects in villages in Agaie LGA and initiate new projects for other communities in Niger South.

Health

  • Provide rural hospital wards for women and children and facilitate critical healthcare interventions in communities across the eight LGAs.

Security

  • Provide operational vehicles and motorcycles for security, and fence area police divisions and primary schools in the eight LGAs.

Humanitarian

  • Orphans — scholarships and healthcare support.
  • Widows — skills acquisition and empowerment.
  • Women and out-of-school children — skills acquisition and empowerment.

Completed projects

  • 14 transformers

    Provided to communities in Agaie Local Government Area.

  • Classrooms and hostels

    New classroom blocks and male and female hostels; scholarships through school fees and educational materials.

  • Boreholes

    Manual and solar-powered boreholes for communities in Kaduna and Niger States.

  • Vigilante support

    Operational equipment and logistics for vigilante operations in Nami, Agaie and other Niger State communities.

  • Access road

    Ibrahim Crescent, off Mashi Road, Kaduna South.

  • Nami Rural Hospital

    Doctors’ and nurses’ quarters and male and female wards.
